about:
Decisions.
author:FARAH
"Is it wrong or is it right, that is the question??"Decisions, decisions, decisions..
So many decisions to make, but so little time...
You might be wondering what my constance babbling is about.. But before I tell you the whole story, let me say a big
HELLO to you. Okay now, my story goes like this..
15 July 2009,I had
CME lessons. My teacher explain about the projects we are going to do for
CME. There was the personal and group work project. We did the personal project first. The project was about decision making. We have 3 questions to answer:
-What makes an action wrong??
-Are there any exceptions??
-What is integrity to me??
To me, an action is considered wrong when something done, is againts the law and also when someone is treated unfairly because of the action. Though there could be exceptions, but it must only be minor exceptions. An example would be when you are crossing the road using the traffic light. There are no cars in sight. So do you continue to wait for the green man or do you just walk across?? If it were me, I would just walk across because I have made sure that the road is clear before I cross so that it would not pose any harm to me. Lastly, what is integrity to me?? Integrity to me means we have to uphold good morals like being honest. If we are honest, people will not doubt us and will think that we are reliable.
Later on, my teacher gave us a real life example for us to think about. One day, my teacher was in a MRT. It was crowded as it was during the peak hours. There was a parent with 2 girls, they were sitting. One of the girls was in primary school while the other look like she was in kindergarten. Then, an old woman came along. She was looking for a seat but no one wanted to give up theirs. Feeling irritated, she squeezes herself into the little girl's seat, pushing the little girl towards her elder sister seat, leaving her not much space. So, was the action that the old lady had taken right or wrong?? Or was the family at fault??
My answer:
I would have to say that both parties are in the wrong. Let me explain why.. The family in the first place, should have given up their seat to the old lady. The seats in the MRT are after all priority seats. They are meant for old people, pregnant womans and the disabled. The parent of the 2 girls should have at least given up his/her seat.
But I would not say the fault is all theirs. The old lady, was being very unreasonable. She should not have squeeze into the girl's seat. The girl is still young but she should be treated properly like any others. The right thing to do in this kind of situation is just to give up your seat to someone who needs it more. It is after all a very easy thing to do. All in all, I think if someone had been more courteous or considerate an incident like this would not have occured.
Okay, so this is the end of my post ._. Hope you had fun reading it though... Will update when I have another assignment next time. Till we meet again:)
